BKS has been developing and producing high-quality and innovative copper and fibre-optic systems for complete network infrastructures in the building and industrial sector for more than 35 years now. Based on state-of-the-art technologies, BKS launches new solutions for the digital building of today and tomorrow. With "Digital Building" we address LED lighting systems, which are supplied with electricity via the data communication network and with "Anti-IonNet" a network solution, which emits up to 90% less electromagnetic radiation in the building. We remain true to ourselves in one respect: we continue to develop and supply sustainable solutions for ultra-fast and secure building and industrial cabling systems.
The demand for more bandwidth, fast and secure data connections and the general performance of communication infrastructures continues to rise steadily. And this trend does not look likely to slow down in the near future with the possibilities and increasing acceptance of working from home. At the same time, with the launch of 5G, the call for less electrosmog, or as it is called in technical jargon, "non-ionising networks", is a serious need of the population.
The new technologies that are revolutionising industry and building services engineering will not be the reason why these needs cannot be met. With the IoT (Internet of Things) architecture, sensors, machines and devices such as coffee machines, clocks and refrigerators also begin to communicate via the network infrastructure. At the same time, classic consumers such as monitoring and access systems or LED lighting fixtures are being supplied with electricity via data cables with a power of up to 96 watts. Digital building is the buzzword and behind it are technologies such as Single Pair Ethernet (SPE), Power over Ethernet (PoE) or Power over Data Line (PoDL).
The advantages of a PoE solution have been thoroughly researched and are undisputed:

• High level of security for personal and brand protection
• Cost-efficiency associated with installation works and investment protection in the innovative IoT architecture
• Flexibility, as devices can be positioned in virtually all locations and supplied with electricity

We also have a solution in our portfolio called "Anti-IonNet" for reduced emissions of electromagnetic fields. WiFi is by far the greatest challenge in terms of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). However, there are a series of interesting alternatives which should be considered as early as the planning phase. The radiation levels of a conventional communication network in a building are reduced by more than 90% with this solution, without losing wireless access to the Internet.
With a suitable cabling structure, the LAN network will be the future nervous system of building automation. A careful selection of cables, connectors and distributors must be ensured.
